Devastation was obvious across numerous faces on the X factor result show last night, after Diana Vickers failed to gain enough votes to reach the final. In a shock exit, Diana polled the least number of votes in the semi final and was left crying on stage with fellow contestant Eoghan Quigg.
Diana’s departure means that Quigg, Burke and all-male group JLS will be in the final next week where Simon Cowell promises some special surprises for viewers.
Diana managed to sing most of her song, Dido’s White Flag in a farewell performance, before the other finalists ran on stage to hug her. She seemed particularly close to Eoghan, who was in floods of tears.
She said: “I’ve absolutely loved it. I’ve had the time of my life. I’ve met some amazing people, like little Eoghan.”
Cheryl Cole was too crying, she said: “I don’t think this is the last we have seen of you. You will be back.”
