Diana Vickers made a new high this week when the 17 year old Westholme student performed the classic Smile on Saturday’s big band special.

She showed everyone that she could swing in more ways than one by actually sitting on a huge swing and singing the 60 year old song. She later confessed that the thought of the outcome left her terrified.

The performance was greeted with a standing ovation and Simon Cowell specially commenting that there was something special about Diana. Louis Walsh said, “I love your little girl voice and you made a really old song sound new. It was incredible.”

Cheryl Cole, Diana’s mentor was mesmerized with the performance and said that the Blackburn girl had overcome her nerves.

Diana Vickers won through the round of the competition without any hassle and proved once again that she was the definite crowd favourite.

Diana’s mother Ann said, “All the family were down there again to watch her perform and it was a fantastic show — every one of them was great. I spoke to her last night after the show and I’m just waiting for her to finish rehearsals so we can go for dinner tonight.”

Ann is looking forward to see the tape on TV to actually hear how the judges commented on her singing. “She had been very nervous, but she’s delighted to have got through another week.”
Many thinks that she is the one to win the coveted title.
