Making it to the next round brings a free feel for Vickers   no comments

Making a comeback from a severe case of laryngitis and then delivering an accomplished performance has resulted for Diana Vickers a thumbs up from the judges sending her to the next round of the ITV1 talent show. Even though many consider that her rendering of Rock band Coldplay’s hit single ‘Yellow’ is not really up to the mark according to her standards, the 17 year old Westholme student from East Lancashire was still given a berth for the next level by Louis Walsh, the judge on the show.

The decision apparently made her feel exhilarated and relived and emotional at the same time as she almost burst in to tears embracing Cheryl Cole, her mentor. Her parents, feeling satisfied and proud about their daughter thought that her performance was really well considering her voice condition and given the fact about the lack of rehearsals throughout the week.

The comments by the judges were however quite mixed to say the least. While Louis Walsh really considered it to be a great one describing her performance as being literally ‘back with a bang’, there were others who apparently did not share the same views. Going by what Simon Cowell said, Vickers’ singing was ‘really going off in parts’ although he added that she is still the most ‘relevant’ of the contestants and that he really missed him in the last episode. Mentor Cheryl Cole, calling her a little star and hoping for people to vote for her said that what she really found admirable and worth of respecting was her determination more than her singing which she felt was not really up to her usual standards due to her illness.
